Cerakote Treatment

Specialist Cerakote ceramic coating application providing industry-leading corrosion protection, chemical resistance and durability for defence, oil and gas, mining and industrial components.

Overview

Cerakote is the global leader in thin-film ceramic coating technology, delivering industry-leading corrosion protection, chemical resistance and durability across the most demanding operating environments. QMS Asset Integrity is one of a select number of accredited Cerakote applicators in Australia, providing specialist ceramic coating services to the defence, oil and gas, aerospace, mining and manufacturing sectors.

Unlike conventional paints and powder coatings, Cerakote’s inorganic formulation can be applied at just 25–50 microns thickness while delivering superior performance across all key metrics - hardness, chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, UV stability and corrosion protection. At 25 microns, Cerakote surpasses 4,000 hours of ASTM B117 salt spray corrosion testing without failure.

Critically, Cerakote’s ultra-thin application means it can be used on tight-tolerance components such as threads, fasteners, valves, pumps and impellers - areas traditionally left unprotected because conventional coatings are too thick. This makes Cerakote the complete solution for protecting entire assemblies, inside and out.

Cerakote Treatment Capability

Our technicians pair practical site experience with NATA-accredited processes, giving clients clear inspection data, traceable reporting and confidence in every result.

Methodology

Surface Preparation: Components are abrasive blasted or chemically prepared to achieve optimal surface profile and cleanliness. All contamination, existing coatings and oxides are removed to ensure maximum adhesion.

Application: Cerakote is a liquid sprayable coating applied using professional spray gun equipment. It is not a dip, roll or brush coating - spray application ensures uniform thickness and consistent coverage across complex geometries. No masking is required for most applications, saving significant time and cost.

Curing: Depending on the Cerakote series selected, coatings are either air-cured or oven-cured at controlled temperatures. High-temperature formulations withstand operating temperatures up to 982°C including thermal shock resistance.

Quality Verification: Coating thickness, adhesion and visual quality are verified upon completion. Cerakote colours are held to a Delta E consistency standard of 1 or less - tighter than most human perception.
